Terms of Service

Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Applies to the hosted ModDog service at moddogbot.com

In plain terms. ModDog is a moderation assistant. It flags messages for your human moderators and, only when you turn it on, can take configured actions automatically. It will not catch everything, and you remain responsible for how your server is moderated.

1. Acceptance

By adding ModDog to a Discord server or using moddogbot.com, you agree to these Terms. The service is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY] ("ModDog", "we"). If you are using ModDog on behalf of an organization, you represent that you may bind it to these Terms.

2. The service

ModDog is an AI moderation-triage bot for Discord. It classifies messages in the channels you choose and surfaces likely violations to your moderators with a category and confidence score. By default ModDog is report-only; automated enforcement actions (such as warnings, timeouts, or removals) are opt-in and configured by a server administrator. You are responsible for reviewing flags and for any enforcement actions taken in your server.

3. Eligibility & Discord's rules

You must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and meet Discord's minimum age requirement. ModDog is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord.

4. Your responsibilities

5. Plans, billing & refunds

ModDog may offer free and paid plans. Paid plans are billed through a third-party payment processor; fees, message limits, and billing terms are described at sign-up. Unless stated otherwise, you may cancel at any time, and any published refund window (for example, a 7-day refund) applies as described at purchase. Plan details may change with notice.

6. No warranty / accuracy

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." AI classification is probabilistic: ModDog may miss violations (false negatives) or flag acceptable messages (false positives). We do not warrant that the service will catch all harmful content, be uninterrupted, or be error-free. ModDog is a tool to assist human moderators, not a replacement for them.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ModDog and [LEGAL ENTITY] are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any harm arising from missed or incorrect classifications, enforcement actions configured by you, or service interruptions. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Privacy

Our handling of data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

9. Self-hosting

A self-hosted edition of ModDog may be made available separately. These Terms govern only the hosted service we operate; if you run a self-hosted instance, your use is governed by the license accompanying that distribution and you operate the service yourself.

10. Suspension & termination

You may stop using ModDog at any time by removing it from your server. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms, abuse, non-payment, or as required by law. You can have your data deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes are reflected by the effective date above and, where appropriate, announced. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law & contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Questions: hello@moddogbot.com.
